i have a GTX460 and a GTS 250 currentky using
default settings, voltage, shader, memory, etc.
Can anyone suggest some tweaks to get a bit more
performance out of them ?

From this i can see you're got an i7 920 @2.67GHz, you're running the Win64 v8b2-SSE3 MB CPU app, and the x41g Cuda32 app, and Boinc 7.0.8 and have the 295.51 drivers,

you're got 'Suspend work while computer is in use?' set to No, and you're suspending tasks when you're active,
a lot of you're CPU tasks are suspended four times during their run, and loose up to 4 minutes time when they revert back the the last checkpoint,
another thing really strange thing you're doing is rescheduling CPU Wu's to the GPU's, but you're rescheduling the VLARs to the GPU too, Why?

So things to do before you even think about overclocking your GPU's,

Update to Boinc 7.0.14 the latest Alpha release, why use a superceeded Alpha version that has various work fetch Bugs,

make sure you using the computing preference properly, they have swapped round for Boinc 7.0.x,

Maintain enough tasks to keep busy for 3 days
(max 10 days).

Maintain additional tasks to keep busy for up to 0.01 days

Set the above for a three day cache, that replenishes frequently, (Boinc 7 fetches work for to the Maximum, then waits until it gets to the minimum before fetching more, i think that's how it's supposed to work)

Enable 'Use Nvidia GPU' at Seti, and don't reschedule, (you won't be doing VLARs and your desktop shouldn't get laggy)

Enable 'Leave tasks in memory while suspended?' (So you're not wasting time restarting from the last checkpoint)

Set 'Suspend work while computer is in use?' to no (you're not rescheduling VLARs to the GPU now, so there should be no noticeable effect that you're crunching)

Edit: and change your drivers to 290.53, 295.51 has a Bug where the Cuda device disappears when the Monitor goes to sleep (if connected to the DVI port), see this task of your's: resultid=2299727965

Thank you Claggy. As usual you have come through with
far more than i asked for. You came through with information
i did not even know to ask for.

Doubtless i had set up preferences and the rescheduler thinking
i was doing something very slick. Very likely ( as i am all too often
guilty of ) i failed to read the instructions carefully and screwed myself.

i have updated to 7.0.14, changfed preferences to 3 days and .01
days. Enabled GPU while computer in use. Turned off the rescheduler.
Leave tasks in memory, set to "yes", Suspend work while computer
is in use to "no" and rolled back drivers to 290.53.

i eagerly await any other suggestions you are willing to
offer.

Um, you're just got 36 CPU VLAR tasks, but no Nvidia GPU tasks yet, keep an eye out that Boinc is asking for GPU work, at some point when there are less VLARs about you should get some,

Edit: you're got some more CPU work now, you might want to check on Boinc 7.0.14, if you go to the Projects Tab, Select Seti, then select Properties, that Nvidia GPU work fetch is allowed.

fetch allowed. i just reset, still not showing any GPU WU's.

Your local preferences (set via BOINC Manager) are overriding your web-based settings.

With that combination, you won't request new work until you're within three minutes of running dry. Increase your "Minimum work buffer" to something more comfortable - personally, I'd go for two or three days, not the full ten - and reduce "Max additional work buffer".

You are getting some GPU work now, but just relative small amounts, and you're got loads of CPU work,

Do you have flops values in your app_info yet?, you might want to put those in to balance the apps out, (see the BOINC 6.10.58 incorrect running time estimation thread as to why).

Then it's just the case of making Boinc only ask for Nvidia GPU work (you can deselect the 'Use CPU' preference to stop Boinc asking for more CPU work, so Boinc will build up a GPU cache)

Hello Claggy:

i installed your app info and everything went fine for about 18
hours. i got a pop up that said to reboot to intall an updated version of
some of my security sorftware ( EmiSoft Online Armor ++ version ) did so
started BOINC manager and computer froze up.

Repeated quite a number of time over the next 24 with the same
result. Tried 7.0.15, same result.

In desperation reinstalled original app info without flops values
and everything is fine again.

i've no doubt the issue is on my end rather than with the
modified app info. Any suggestions where i should look ?
