Finally a release notes that does not say this about HD 5970: "supported only in single mode" - which means that now multi gpu 5970 is finally supported. Hopefully. I will hold my horses until final GA on SDK and CAL before I test, as it's a real hazzle to update/change on a Windows server 2008...
In all previous SDK release notes it was clearly stated in footnote that 5970 was only supported in single GPU mode. Now there is no "single" in release notes, or info stating multi gpu is not supported on 5970.As for HD 6990 - it's not on the supported list, so I guess this card it yet to be supported fully.
