What happened to my AK_V8?
« on: 26 Feb 2009, 06:09:49 pm »
Me again, with a question. I downloaded the new AP_V5 optimized client, modified my ap_info file, and now both AP and AP_V5 are running fine. Thanks for that.

BUT - every time I open BOINC Manager, the program ques up the AK_V8 .exe file for downloading. Also, when I update SETI I'm not getting any MB projects. Here is a typical message log:

26/02/2009 5:59:07 PM||file projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/AK_v8_win_SSSE3x.exe not found
26/02/2009 5:59:07 PM||[error] No URL for file transfer of AK_v8_win_SSSE3x.exe
26/02/2009 5:59:09 PM|SETI@home|Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of AK_v8_win_SSSE3x.exe

I've reloaded all the AK_V8 files, with no change. I suspect the error may be in my home made app_ info, but I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the current app_info:

"AK_v8_win_SSSE3x.exe" this file BOINC expects to be in your projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/ directory.
Maybe yours is missing or you have a typo there. Check that filename again character by character, it has to match 100%. Otherwise this will not work.

Aha! The file actually in the folder is AK_v8_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe. I assume I have to change the reference in the app_info to match this?

Yes, that is the problem. Change that app_info.xml entries and you should be ok.

Alles ist jetzt gut Herr Echternacht! MB projects now downloading nicely. I must have mixed this up when I assembled the app_info file.

I had the same problem (the extra "S" in "SSSE3"). It is in the sample app_info.xml file downloaded from this site. I checked and checked it but only spotted it thanks to this thread!

What am I doing wrong?

I have an EMachines Celeron C2D 2.0 ssse3 capable with an 8500GT 512MB graphics card estimated at 5Gflops.
My FPOPS are 1864335675.

I have put the necessary files in my setiathome folder and did the math for each type of workunits.I ran my cache down to zero but when I put the app_info file in and restarted BM it erases the setiathome_6.08_windows_intelx86__cuda.exe file and gives the message url cannot be found to download it again thus causing all 6.08 WUs to error out in downloading. I copied MarkJ's app_info exactly, changed the numbers to my specs, and placed it in my setiathome folder.

This is my app_info file:

<app_info>

I have too much work right now to let it run back down so I will have to detach and start all over after I get some recommendations from you guys.

There's a double underscore in the cuda file name,

setiathome_6.08_windows_intelx86__cuda.exe

should be:

setiathome_6.08_windows_intelx86_cuda.exe

Claggy

Edit: I'm Wrong, my filename's got a double underscore, so check your file has as well.

Thanks Claggy, I caught that too but that's the way it is in the file. I just can't see anything else strange in there.

Thanks Claggy, I caught that too but that's the way it is in the file. I just can't see anything else strange in there.

This is your error:

<core_client_version>6.6.20</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
 <file_name>setiathome_6.08_windows_intelx86_cuda.exe</file_name>
 <error_code>-197</error_code>
 <error_message>user requested transfer abort</error_message>
</file_xfer_error>

now check the filename of the app is the same as entry in the app_info, this error has only one underscore while app_info has two next to the cuda.

Ok, detached from seti, removed Boinc from my computer and started over again. This time everything is working as it should and I'm leaving it alone now. :) Thanks for the help Claggy, both here and on the seti forums.
