What you think about to extend the download-area with the SSE_FFTW app for AMD-CPUs?  :)

2.4V_Windows_x32_SSE_FFTW

To now, only available for the insider under us..  ;)

To now not available at Crunch3r's side also..

+1 :)
Good idea, it's fastest app for old SSE-only AMD CPUs for now

If there are no known problems for this app and because it is the fastest for SSE-AMD's, then yes it should be added to the list.

Well, unfortunately I never received a response to my query whether the creator of the build would appreciate that.  There are some more pressing tidyups of the download area to do when my holidays start in a week, so I'll look at the issue again then.

The link to download that version is both in the sticky project NC thread for optimized apps, and in the Releases - all released versions are announced here. thread on this site. Considering the number of hosts likely to be newly added which need that version, I don't see any urgency in improving the situation.

Don't be bad to the loved old PCs..  :(

Not all people can buy new rigs..

SETI@home is happy about every PC..  :)

BTW.
If I think to the time I was new at SETI@home it was very difficult to find infos about opt. apps and so on..
If I would be new here, I would search in the download-area for my app..

Yes, sutaru, I owned an Amiga, 386, 486, p200mmx and Pentium II once. Ask yourself, when do we continue to support this in the name of history, and when do we move on?

I have also an AMIGA 500.. (I have him now also  :D) but I don't want to crunch with it..  ;)

I sit in front of an AMD Athlon 600 @ 604 MHz with only MMX.. for Inet and Office-work.. so why no crunching in the background?  ;)

I think there are a lot of people out there, which don't have the newest PCs..
Think to this also..  :)

Amiga had 128K of memory?
My Commodore 64 had only 64K, hard to implement MB for it, LoL :))
But Pentium 233MMX  is crunching still ;) Though SSE FFTW suitable for more recent hosts like AMD Athlon XP, with ~2GHz frequences... not so old :)
(and yes, it's still my main home PC. Although quad is running already, too much time needed to move all stuff on new host)

..yes, that's why my AMD Athlon XP-M 1400+ (@ 1.2 GHz) is sitting in the corner without using.. (SSE  :))

If I have time I'll change the hardware..  ;)

BUT, the QX6700 @ 4 x 3.14 GHz is crunching 24/7 !  :D
