error message in Boinc
« on: 25 Mar 2007, 01:45:18 pm »
I ran the optimized client for a week, then decided to remove the files from the folder because I noticed that I had validation errors in the results. I stopped the service and restarted it. Then I installed version 5.8.15 of Boinc. After a week I noticed that no Seti workunits were being processed. I looked at my messages and saw the following:

3/25/2007 12:28:11 PM||[error] No URL for file transfer of KWSN_2.2B_SSE3-C2_Ben-Joe.exe

I put the files back into the seti folder, but the error message won't go away. I reinstalled BOINC, and that did not help.

What can I do to fix this?

If a reset doesn't fix it, then I would try to detach and reattach.  I think resetting the project is supposed to clear out the projects folder.

That would be the "reset project" button, when you are viewing the projects tab with the Advanced View in 5.8.15.

Are you sure you got rid of the app info xml file?  Supposedly if you delete just that, then BOINC will download the default seti@home application.

Hope that helps,

Pam

I did that and I got a new error message:

3/25/2007 7:26:03 PM|SETI@home|[error] Persistent file transfer object not found

so then I detached and reattached to the project. That basically cleaned out all files and started up correctly. Only thing now is that that whole statistics graph is gone. Maybe I can copy it from another computer

hi, crunchr, Simon,
think I have a problem with .NET Framework.
from time to time I get Application error from boinc.exe.
It runs as a service and i get following messages when it starts:
Die Beschreibung der Ereigniskennung ( 1 ) in ( BOINC ) wurde nicht gefunden. Der lokale Computer verfügt nicht über die zum Anzeigen der Meldungen von einem Remotecomputer erforderlichen Registrierungsinformationen oder DLL-Meldungsdateien. Möglicherweise müssen Sie das Flag /AUXSOURCE= zum Ermitteln der Beschreibung verwenden. Weitere Informationen stehen in Hilfe und Support. Ereignisinformationen: BOINC service is initialization completed, now begining process execution...
; .
-----------------------
it runs about 1 hour then boinc crashes with this message:
Fehlgeschlagene Anwendung boinc.exe, Version 5.9.0.64, fehlgeschlagenes Modul msvcr80.dll, Version 8.0.50727.163, Fehleradresse 0x0000892c.

this happened too after PCHealt was trying write back something:

maybe this information helps:
edit:
started the service again, then after some minutes get the message:

Hi,
the error at above was a result of a dameged .NET Framework.
Now after deinstallation and a new install of .NET Framework 2.0 seti boinc is running again without any problems.
Don´worry, be happy  :)

If there is ever another catastrophic melt down at Berkeley!  I will leave my machines alone.  All the changes I made including un install  re install were not the right way to go.

Next time, I'll just wait for them to fix their problem Instead of fouling up all my machines and the corresponding files. :(
