BOINC in dual boot systems

I know it discussed in past but I want to revive this topic.
Some time ago I was able to move whole data directory between different computers w/o any issue.
Today I tried to load into my secondary OS, Windows 7 x64.

I met many issues:
1) BOINC folder had sequirity configured that didn't allow me to even list directory.
2) after correcting access rights I reinstalled the same (x86, 6.10.58) BOINC version into same directory and directed data directory place to catalog with saved Vista's BOINC data directory. BOINC didn't found it.
3) I tried few time to copy original directory back - BOINC just rewrites client_state.xml with something small and refuse to see old tasks.
4) rebooted back to Vista I found that BOINC can't find data there too.

Only BOINC reinstall (repair install) under Vista and copiing directory once more restored my old tasks.

So, how to transfer data between BOINC's setups correctly with BOINC 6.10.58 version ?

It's quite a while since I was doing that, but IIRC the key was to install the Boinc Data directory to somewhere other than within any system or program files area.  e.g. I use C:\BOINC_Data ... Like I said though I haven't done it for a while though.

Thats true Jason.
I have data directory installed on second hard drive.
So it isnīt locked by OS.

BOINC was installed into P:\bin\BOINC, boinc data dir in p:\bin\BOINCdata.
Don't think it's OS-locked area
But as long as you use NTFS drive BOINC can make it's own security adjustments. I think it's BOINC, not OS itself...

If you think it should work I will retry once more....

You should be able to regain access by taking ownership to the directory tree.

Have you tried to do that?

Right-click "BOINC", select properties+"Security". Click "Advanced" and select "Change permissions". Then add your username, check "Replace child object permissions.." and click Apply.

Ensure that your user has "Full control" in "Permissions".

YEs, I tried again to add full access to "Everyone" now. And now it works OK.
Now gathering data for Win7 x64 + Cat 11.6. Looks promizing (but still can't crunch and watch video of course  )

Have you any links to documentation about the GPU in your 6950 ?... It's a DX11 card so I would have thought they would have implemented the hardware portions of WDDM required for that... Maybe it's just that the drivers aren't fully caught up yet.  nVidia's manage video + crunching 3 tasks on the 480, but some of the other WDDM features are only made use of in the latest driver series (i.e. the ones that expose all the boincApi flaws & change the way memory is handled).   Perhaps AMD hasn't shifted fully to support  the virtualised memory model and context switches yet (even if the hardware is there).
