V12 Description
« on: 19 Jul 2009, 03:42:32 am »
A small description about the V12 Version would be nice.
There is some cryptic description on the download page.
So what is different from e.g. stock and V11 version.

Hi Fred,  The one described is the only change (i.e. not much)  You probably won't see any difference on a 295, so there is nothing extra to describe:

"Build with smaller pulse find limit (2048), hoped to exhibit less issues on most nVidia Cards. " , a 295 is not most cards but a special one, possibly along with others in the 2xx range ;)

If you didn't get issues before, you won't see difference.  For people this effects, the difference will be rather obvious, since they'll be able to use their primary display again.

Added to description: "[Reduced display lag problems over V11, in low to mid-high cards. Note that High end cards should not see any difference]"

1) V11 has no changes in "pulse limit" value regarding stock at all. It's internal parameter of V12 that was tuned ultimately to 2048 value. Mostly it affects on VLAR tasks though small speedup was on other ARs too.
2) Some unneeded reprocessing was eliminated. Again, small reflection  in running time.
there were some other small changes in code (need to browse SVN to recall them).

In short, versions included in installer (exept AP 505 thar required update) almost the same we had in separate packages before, not big performance difference from them.
The strength of installer not in speeding up processing of already optimized host but in widering area of optimized hosts much!
It simplifies optimization process to all and makes optimization possible to novice users too.
This is area where performace gain from this release will be most noticeable.
