Making seti report after 1 minute
« on: 24 Dec 2009, 04:21:53 pm »
Can someone write me whatever I need to copy and paste into my cc_config or where ever else it goes so seti will report after 1 minute please. My i7 machine seems like it will go for days without reporting if I don't manually update.
Thank you

<cc_config>
    <log_flags>
    </log_flags>
    <options>
        <report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
    </options>
</cc_config>

So I am curious, if I set the 1 to 2 will it report after 2 minutes? Someone in a thread at seti said that sometimes if it send imediately that the upload server may not have it registered or something like that and it might not get credit? All greek to me.

1 turns the option on, 0 turns it off,

Yes, there is always the risk that you'll get validate errors because you report too quickly.

See the following links for how to configure you client, and the options available:

How do I configure my client using the cc_config.xml file?

The Better Option might be in your Computing Preferences to set

Computer is connected to the Internet about every 0.1 days

then in Boinc > Activity Menu insure that "Network  activity based on prefrences."

It would mean the Boinc expects to "try" to get work every 2.4 hours.

Or to create a Local Overide file - Boinc > Advanced > Preferences the Network Usage Tab
"Connect about every" 0.1 days and the Maintain "Additional work buffer" x.xx days

Sure wish Crunch3r would make a new client, I use his 6.1.0 for the rest of my machines. I don't like it waiting a day or 2 and it would be silly for me to build this machine just to sit idle everytime seti hicups. Thanks for trying I guess I will have to live with it.

The funny part is the rest of the world waits until Boinc decides it needs work. Generally when people run large caches they run into the this problem. As I recall you can set it down to .05 or the machine would contact ervery 1.2 hours like clock work. At that time if it needs work it will report and ask for more work.

I use the older Crunch3r client on all my rigs except the 3 that I have added Cuda cards to...using 6.10.0 on those with the cc_config RRI option.
I have not seen any problems with validation errors for a long time.
