GPU work being done by CPU (?)

I think I ran across some posting stating that for some reason this was possible, but can't find it anymore...

What's happening :
One of my recently built systems (Athlon64 X2 5000+, WinXP 32bit SP3, GTX295 w/ 185.85WHQL, BOINC 6.6.28 Win32) apparently works 3 Tasks with the DualCore CPU and only one task on the GPU.

It did work more or less flawless before and started doing that not until 2 days ago.

Initially, relaunching BOINC (rebooting the System to be sure) helped, but the trick doesn't seem to work everytime I do it anymore (a 2nd Reboot did help this time though, but I guess it's only a question of time until it happens again).
The only addition were the CUDA 2.2 dlls, which work just fine in all other (almost identical) systems as well.

It was installed from scratch with the latest Lunatics installer and everything ran like a charm for several days.

Additionally, I noticed that it is the only Host that (for some reason) paused alot of workunits at various stages "WorkUnit waiting to run" and doesn't seem to pick them up again - I assume this will happen approaching the deadline. Still, this behaviour doesn't make any obvious sense to me, as it is exclusively running SETI with no other active Projects.

The BOINC Messages tab reveals nothing abnormal, it's launching 2x 6.03 MB (CPU) and 2x 6.08 MB (GPU) and detected both GPUs of the GTX295 properly.

Any known solution for a (possibly) known problem ?

I have since long abandoned the idea of getting newer boinc versions to run.

Personally i have backed up to old 6.4.7 version to getting cuda to work smooth. So nowadays my machine doesn't pause wu's in the middle to start on others because the cache get filled and doesn't screw up in other terms also.

You have my machine at the top 20 list and is now just past the 57k rac line.

Absolutely none, the system is stand-alone crunching only with just network and power chord attached to it.

All WinXP display settings are set to max. performance (Windows classic scheme enabled, all visual enhancing effects turned off)
 Not even a screensaver is enabled (just Energy Saving, will turn off the screen signal after 10 Minutes)...

System is cooled with 3x80mm fans and a 120mm fan (in noisy high power mode) pointing directly at the Video Card, I assume it couldn't possibly overheat even if it tried.
