app_info.xml
« on: 31 Jan 2009, 01:32:43 pm »
I'm trying to run the standard seti client because I have a CUDA processor but I want to run the enhanced astropulse app. I'm sure it's possible in theory but whenever I start up with my app_info.xml in place it wipes out the seti files. I've read everything I can find about creating an app_info.xml and I'm now at a loss as to what I've done wrong/stupidly. Could someone have a look at my app_info.xml and tell me what I've missed please?

I'm running on AMD, a dual core X64 4000+ processor.

You've gone a bit over-complicated with all the text files, and you may not have all the <app_version> ranges you need.

Rather than re-inventing the wheel, you might want to look at a ready-made one, which has been tested and is currently running:

Thanks for the link, I've installed them and it's trying to get work now. It never ocurred to me to look in number crunching...

I'll try and work out exactly what I did wrong.

I would be VERY willing to pay, if someone could provide me with an optimization package to run BOINC on some (at least my 4 quads CUDA'a) of my 11 computers. I tried installing an optimized program from this site, and ended up having to completely uninstall BOINC, and start over. Don't get me wrong, I think the work you guys do here is great, just way over this old man's head.  My computer time is split between SETI , Einstein, World Community Grid, and GPUGRID. I'd love to get better utilization out of my computers, and move up in rank a little faster. Rick

Hi Rick,
A installer for distributing the optimized packages is under work. Wait still a bit and the install process will be done automatic by this new installer. I believe it will published in the next future.
