I have just purchased and tested a new Q6600 CPU to add to my crunching farm.
This new chip is most impressive and I am more than happy with it because it only cost me £220 from Ebay. I also have a Qx6700 in my farm that I purchased 5 months ago for cost around £500 and this although the extreme chip is fantastic I would no longer recommend it as good value for money.
I will list the details of my 2 Quad machines running configurations for you to Draw your own conclusions noting that both chips sit on identical P5B deluxe motherboards with the same RAM. Note that decreasing the Voltage on either machine creates instability.
Qx6700 with Arctic freezer 7 Pro
Maximum running speed on air allowing a maximun tempriture of 80 degrees at 100% load = 3135Mhz (285x11)
Voltage = 1.352
Seti RAC = 5200 with the mighty Chicken
Q6600 with Arctic freezer 7 Pro
Maximum running speed on air allowing a maximun tempriture of 80 degrees at 100% load = 3300Mhz (367x9)
Voltage = 1.296
You can Buy 2 Q6600 for the cost of one Qx6700 !!!!
I will publish the seti RAC of the q6600 later but I guess it would be 5200+
