I'm at my most creative when it's quiet and dark outside, too.

Thanks everyone!
The download stats and hit counters are going up a lot more quickly than I had anticipated.
The site has been linked to less than 24 hours now and there have already been over 100 downloads (not to mention a lot of hits).
So keep it up, everyone!
The download packages have been updated for compatibility with Linux 2.4-based systems. If you downloaded before and it didn't work for you, just grab it again from the Downloads section. You will get the new files.
Regards,
Simon.

Gee, I would have guessed you would be swamped with a lot more than 100 downloads.
I alerted my team, I am pretty sure there are some Linux users there since I've gotten help with Linux from some of them, so maybe it will spike some more.
Has anybody noticed these ultra low angle range work units? They take a lot longer but are claiming a little less credit than the .4xx AR units. On my Pentium D 920 they take over 16k sec but claim around 58 credits, compared to .4xx AR that take less than 10k sec and claim around 60 credits. Something seems funny there, but those wu are taking a lot longer for everybody else, so I am really glad I'm optimized!
Thanks, Simon. Nice, smilies!

Heh, you like 'em?
Yeah, I've been getting a LOT of those. They all get 58.69 credits and take forever. We'll get different ones again
So how are you liking your times? You're eating through that cache a mile a minute. Credit monster...
I just bought a cheap P-D 805 system to test my apps on, it's just that little bit slower than yours in clock speed but a lot slower in crunching because it's still missing the second RAM module...damn dealer, no stock of quality parts
Right now I'm trying to benchmark Linux vs. Windows, both 32 and 64 bit flavours of each.
On my short benchmark runs, Windows seems quicker. Doing real WUs? Linux is a rocket.
I'll have to finish doing more WUs to really tell, but it still looks like Linux is the winner in the real world (outside of "artificially shortened" work units like I used to test with cause they don't take as long).
The new app also runs on Linux 2.4 now, which it didn't before, so it should really run on every Linux SSE2-enabled host.
No speed difference, but now it says Initial RELEASE version
Keep on crunching!
Regards,
Simon.

Hello everybody!
Simon, great work!
Good to see that optimizing is not dead. I appreciate that you invest your time and money in providing optimized clients to the Seti community.
How is the status on licenses did you get everything you need?
I'd be ready to help with a donation if necessary.
greetings from Switzerland

Hi Chboss,
grüezi Schwyz!
The license is already paid for.
I don't want to dissuade you from donating, but it's not strictly necessary right now. You can find out my primary email address by clicking on my nickname, it will take you to my profile. That one's registered with PayPal.
Right now, I'm testing Windows clients on various platforms - I'll most probably announce a public release tomorrow.
Thanks for your kind words!
Simon.
P.S.: Oh, and if you're interested:

Hi Simon
Servus Österreich...
Thank you for this update.
I am looking forward to your Windows release and I am certainly interested in this comparison table.
