Pentium M Banias 1600 MHz. I know it is already listed, but this one at different clock speeds (results in different memory speeds).

So, peter, if I understand you correctly...
You took a banias Pentium M,  did the test.
Changed the system CPU clock somehow (reboot and change bios, or some tweak utility)
Then ran the memory timing test again
Change speed again...
etc.

This result, if what I've said, is interesting to note some things.

1.  L1 and L2 speeds track with CPU clock setting speed
2.  RAM speed changes along with CPU speed except for Pre-cache reads and non-cache writes.  So maybe you were changing the cpu multiplier and not the Front Side Bus speed.

Worthy of further study.

Yes, Ben, approx. this way, only that I changed the clock on-the-fly without booting (with RightMark CPU Clock). I'm using this to lower the heat, produced by my notebook to be able wo work with fully loaded CPU and without spinning fan.

After running the test, I noticed that the clock is nearly the lowest one (thus probably slow memory speed), so I topped the clock and rerun the test. When I noticed the differences, I rerun it on few more frequencies.

Yes, you are right, the utility only changes FID and VID upon request, FSB stays unchanged.

I understand my processor on this host to be a Gallatin, sold as a P4 Extreme Edition.  CPUID 10-02-A calls it "Intel P4 Xeon (Prestonia B)".  I don't know how equivalent that is--perhaps very equivalent for all I know.

My sample is unlocked, which is not normal, so extra effort to classify it is probably not warranted.

Update:

I subsequently ran this version on my three other systems.
1 Banias 1.4 GHz--all seems well
2. commercial (Dell) 933 MHz Coppermine--all seems well
3. home-built 733 MHz Coppermine--all seems well

I'l particularly pleased at system number three, as the BOINC stuff calls that one a Pentium II, whereas your CPUID calls it a Pentium III, which I believe to be true.

I'll be happy to post the result screen for any or all of these if you wish.

My identifier saw the 512K L2 cache and the 2 Meg L3 cache and used that to calculate the identifier.
This information (what is what) is spread around the internet and hard to piece together.  I recently found a great spreadsheet which seems to be fairly accurate but a few months out of date on some website during a search.

I also rely on BalusC website.
