5000 series support
« on: 14 Dec 2009, 09:29:06 am »
I have a 5750 on the way I want to run seti on,

http://developer.amd.com/gpu/ATIStreamSDK/pages/ATIStreamSystemRequirements.aspx

and amd's list only goes up to the 4870x2/4890, no 5000 series at all. would it still work or do i have to wait? i'm bummed :(.

if it is supported eventually, can i get it to work at the same time as the 2600xt thats currently in the system? :)

It should work just fine, I know people have the 5700 series running on Collatz just fine.

I love when they can't be bothered to updated & public their specs. I also liek how they list "XP SP3 (32-bit/64-bit)" in the OS requirements. I'd really like to know where I'm suppose to get SP x64 SP3 as it doesn't exist lol

Hi,  since a few days, I've got a ATI 5770 ,  testing it at Collatz Conjecture and works OK and very fast.
Although it's a single precision, (whatever that means) it has more compute power then a 9800GTX.

It should work fine, with AP WU's, if there are any.
Looks like SETI is down, can't reach it!?  :'(
Anyone with similar experience ?

Scheduled power outage on the 27th of Dec. There is also one on the 3rd of Jan. Its supposed to be up between those dates but they may decide its all too hard and wait until the 4th of Jan to turn all the computers back on.

Edit: Seems its back up now along with the BOINC site

The above link to AMD site is not working.  Would also like to run SETI on GPU.

Build
Chip: Intel i7 960
Board: ASUS P6X58D Premium
Memory: DDR3 1600 RAM - 6 GB  (running at 1600)
GPU: Radeon HD 5750
Main OS drive is a Intel SSD

Have the CPU optimizer but how can I get my GPU to do a little work?  Don't mind running something 'else' when SETI does not have work but would lie to do SETI first.

Thanks,
Kynn

There is no Setiathome Enhanced app for ATI GPU's (yet) so you won't be able to do any of that,
there is a Hybrid Astropulse app, but it only part uses the GPU, 75% of the work being done by the CPU,
with short pulses being done by the GPU.

Here are two links for System Requirements:

ATI Stream SDK v1.4-beta System Requirements

ATI Stream Software Development Kit (SDK) v2.01 With OpenCL™ 1.0 Support System Requirements

First link does not have my GPU, will it still work and do I need to clear out my current work units?

It should run with no problems, I've run it on Beta with my E8500 / HD5770 combo,
with only a couple of invalid tasks, probably my O/C on the CPU or the GPU too hot.

Are you already optimised with an AK_V8 CPU app and the Astropulse_v505 CPU app?

and do you have any Astropulse_v505 Wu's in your Cache?

If you don't have an Astropulse_v505 Wu's, you could just change the CPU app section,
for the GPU app section (posted here), making sure you put the correct full filename of the app
into the example posted,

I also would like to do Seti@Home on a 5000 series card, Not AP though. Otherwise I can't justify buying one of them in October of 2011, It's the soonest I could do this(Long Story).

cuda -> opencl seems to be easier to port.
I hope that in the next update that ATi will publish to its SDK, they will solve the bug with Apple FFT OpenCL code. Then maybe lunatics (raistmer) will do the magic!
