Cat 11.12 drivers have just been released
and finally it seems that we're going to get decent drivers from AMD
Bench is looking good against stock at the moment - Q's ~95% and upwards - will post when its finished

SDK_2.6 is out as well, the MD5 checksums have been updated, but not the links, so changing the url from v2.5 to v2.6 gets a download started,

Just running some standalone tests with the linux 64bit version and Cat 11.12 Let's see ...  :-\

 >:( >:( Using HD4670 and LHD4K and Cat 11.12 my host is still crashing with a freeze. Maybe the next one ... meanwhile back to Cat 11.9

With Catalyst 11.12 (tested: Win7x64) AMD finally managed to solve the 100% CPU load bug (even for systems with more than one GPU)  :)

Sounds great !  What's average CPU usage at the moment ?

for me still no crunching with my HD3850 Cat 11.12 already set-up supposed that should be another problem except for driver some kind of ghost inside computer.

I'm starting to look strangely  >:( to my box and some kind of "format .. " thought are coming to my brain  :)
I'll wait for my NVidia GTS460 to be back repaired or new to decide start from the scratch.

Almost zero. For non-blanked APs its between 2-4 %.
(for bitcoin mining it's between 0-1%).

Meanwhile have tested this and it seems to be solved for single GPU  :) , but NOT for multi-GPU hosts on 64 bit linux. CPU load with Cat 11.12 is around 80% when crunching MBv7r390_HD5 (Example: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=3710311:(

Main problem solved : at least results done with Cat 11.12 are correct so far.

Sure is.  Reintroduction of the old blocking synchronisation should help Raistmer, and OpenCL apps in general, a lot without having to redesign for new methods.  Hopefully they didn't break the other mechanisms putting that one back  ;)  At least then there'll be options to choose from that work.

well going deeply inside if I remember when I assembled my

  • 1st this computer has a GPU in MOBO, something like HD4310 (or similar, no double precision) and I was able to crunch with it because still have not any other GPU card installed.
  • 2nd I assembled this HD3850 and I was able to crunch with both of them, but supposed that should have something wrong in set-up that both of then were crunching but acting as one, could be something related of "Crossfire"
  • 3rd bearing in mind that I was not able to solve such fix at that time I disable via BIOS the MOBO GPU, and no problem only crunching with HD3850
  • 4th I dismantled one computer and used the Nvidia 9800, uninstalled and sweep ATI software and driver, installed NVidia GPU and driver, replaced optimized applications from ATI to Nvidia, all working fine
  • 5th I had a problem with the Nvidia 9800 and replaced again with HD3850 , impossible to crunch wit it done the same that for NVidia but now for ATI
  • 6th Upgrade to Nvidia GTS 460, done again same for NVidia platform, all working fine
  • 7th One fan broken in the NVidia and GPU out of order for the TS, again installed HD3850 as usual removing, sweeping, exchanging and replacing NO SUCCESS, you could see that the computer is working fine, the screen, but no GPUcrunching
  • 8th Moreover not able to work with the MOBO GPU, well O.S. starts with this GPU but just started w7pro x64 it exchanges to the PCI one and not able to see anything in the screen (of course mark as able in the BIOS)
Over the sailors' graves never groves grass.

Cheers all / Corsair.

Hi corsair,
I had have similar issue when I changed from my Sapphire HD3870 to NVidia.
I could resolve it by using Revo Uninstaller Pro to clean the computer from all its ATI stuff.
Perhaps this can halp you too.

Found some freeware too called "BlueScreenView" to decipher bluescreens on windows XP and later. Hopefully that can help AMD to ease bug search a little.

Only if this will be posted not here but on AMD forums and even better, bug ticket will be opened.

heinz thanks for your feedback, done.

uninstalled with Revo all ATI/AMD CCC & drivers, driver sweeper run and erased all traces of AMD/ATI and NVidia related to GPU.
restarted computer and installed again ATI 11.12, and no success, still the GPU is not crunching.

it's a strange thing because the GPU shows correctly the screen and could see video films, etc. but when started BOINC with cruching software it looks like that is "not able to start" the GPU, because in no moment there is GPU usage, temperature stable not rising and not increase of fan activity ?? ?? ?? ??  :'( :'( :'(

will see if NVidia GPU is coming from the TS and supposed that will crunch again.
Over the sailors' graves never groves grass.

Cheers all / Corsair.
