About two weeks ago there was a
question whether there would be optimized apps for FreeBSD.
Today I was reading
http://linux.slashdot.org about
Debian getting FreeBSD kernel support and saw
this and
this posts saying that FreeBSD can run linux binaries natively.
In
http://www.freebsd.org I've found the corresponding
documentation about this binary compatibility and how to enable it (says it is off by default).
So unless there will be native FreeBSD apps, FreeBSD users can try this and see if it works.
Note: It says that: "Linux binaries will not work on FreeBSD if they overly use i386™ specific calls, such as enabling virtual 8086 mode". I hope it doesn't happen in optimized apps.
