Title: Record time for registration validation?

I attempted to register here in March 3rd last year. My registration was manually activated on Jan 17th this year by the mods (thanks mods). Is that a record wait? Has the site just recovered from a major crisis, or was the validation dependant on my having started to use optimised apps on the two clients worth connecting with?

I'm not complaining - this site seems to be a valuable resource, and I am grateful to be able to participate (or at least, I will be when I get a bit more active over time). Just a bit confused at the 10 months it took to be activated - I had given up after a few weeks :)

Not sure, but I think our friendly admin guys got around to some housecleaning, and found some sortof buried 'awaiting activation list'.  If it was March last year, then the board was suffering strange malaise of all sorts due to a server move, and many people not being able to connect, [And I think a domain name change in there somewhere too].  It is probably related to one of those that the automated email never happened.

Oh well, to me this board thing is a strange mystical device where 'stuff just happens'.
