Title: Seti dead in the water......
Post by: msattler on 25 May 2007, 08:32:54 pm
Criminy...I hope the boyz at Berkeley are planning on rolling out a few sleeping bags and sticking around tonight.  They appear to have really trashed the joint.  Down all afternoon and can't even get a status page right now.
To be clear, I am not dissing them, I am sure they are cussing their little hearts out right now.  But it would be a major bummer to be down for the whole weekend.
Oh, well.

Ok bad news ...we "berked" again ... do not know what "berked" is ? ... hmmm try figure out  :P

As it seems to me atm there's some work going on the DB cuz the stats page showed a "shut down by staff". . .

Whatever they do now ... hopefully they get their act together again and do NOT mess around with users prefs again like they obviously did after the last breakdown...

The thing is if i do set my preferences on how my rigs are beeing used for the project... well i don't like the staff to manipulate it to what their needs are ... those computers don't belong to them  ;)

Geez crunch, although I agree with you, at this point, I would be overjoyed if they would play with my settings a bit.  I can change that later.  I just wish they were up and running.  Anybody on the inside know what is going on??

Not at all. But i assume work is beeing done on the DB cuz right before all went down  i checked the status page and the db was shut down manually only a few minutes after your post regarding the "missing account key" as shedular reply... so i'm confident they're working on it.

I am confident as well (or would that be optimistic?).  They must be having fits about now.  If I wasn't so addicted to Seti at this point, I'd be thinking about shutting the whole farm down and saving the $300 or so I am spending every month to keep crunching.
But hey, what's the fun in that?  I have already posted that I am here for the long haul, and I am true to my word.  Besides, the rigs have enough work to keep them going, so what's the use in complaining about it.  After all, this whole thing is voluntary, not obligatory, so those that can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.  And let the rest of us stir the Chicken soup.

I downloaded a couple hundred units right before they went offline this morning. Untill things get back to normal most of my machines are set to 5 and 7 days. I get enough to keep going that way, haven't been without on any machines for about a week now. RAC is back where it was and gonna go a lot higher.

Well, is it jus me, or has Seti gone in the tank again??  Everything seems to be working OK, except for the dang web pages.  Did somebody trip on a cord on the way out?  Seemed to happen just about 5:00pm Berkeley time.   Why-oh-why does this always seem to happen just before the weekend?
