Title: HSA - worth to look into
Post by: Raistmer on 02 Mar 2013, 05:41:24 am

Looks like AMD, ARM and others trying to create something better than OpenCL for heterogeneous computing.
Their promises sounds great. Maybe their approach can result in faster apps, especially on APUs, than OpenCL-based.

What is not good: no Intel and nVidia not in founders nor in supporters... So, how universal it can be w/o 2 main hardware manufacturers is questionable. Especially strange not to see Intel there, cause Intel has its own "APUs" too now...

Lets discuss this

Intel probably doesn't want to be involved with AMD.  It appears AMD innitiated this group.   Intel would look like they are tryiing to catch up if they chime in now.  I can only assume its a matter of saving face for Intel

They catch up in APU area indeed. Though they have decent CPU part their GPU part pathetic vs AMD's APU.
