They have become too entrenched and sure of themselves.
And or modding left and right.

Oh, the usual.
They started modding some posts for dubious reasons, and I went off the handle and started sparring with them.
It all went downhill from there.

If it's his normal two weeks off he should be back just in time. At least they can't cut him off from getting work so he will be ok there, just might not be able to cheer about it. I do hope you get back in time though Mark!

Right now it's showing 2 weeks.
But the mod that started the ban vote added a message......
'Requesting 6 month ban'.

And I do appreciate the fact that those in charge here give me a bit of safe haven.
I posted a similar comment on the Milkyway boards.....and of course, Blurf being the mod there, the post went poof with an admonishment from him that he would ban me there if I made any further comments about the Seti kerfluffle.
I know I get a bit crazy and my posts can be a little irreverent at times.
But I thank you for giving me enough respect to let me be me.

Informix is running on oscar and is now initializing all of its dbspaces. We hope to start moving the science data over in the first part of next week.
Here's hoping they ignore the request for 6 months and let you back in time!

Yeah, I read the news......they are making steady progress and are getting closer and closer.
I fired up all the rigs......they are sniffing for resends right now, and get a few here and there.
And to think that without my efforts and the amazing response I got from my fellow users, this might not be happening yet.
And yet, just a few self-important mods can still kick me off of the boards.
Such freakin' gratitude they show me.

Wasn't it nicer when your mods actually had a conversation with you. Asking for you to relax and let us take care of it. Seems they may have gotten into heavy handedness again. As I recall we'd call a vote and it would fail after 6 hours. In that cooling off period you got yourself together and all was well again. No need to make waves. Save the ban for serious stuff.

Regardless, I have ordered up another GTX465 to add to one of my rigs.......
So, even if they choose to diss me further than that, I will be crunching in full force for the project that I love.

the Mods dont have the power to get a 6 month ban. only the admins can do that. that type of ban is usually reserved for folks like Fjernhode who insisted on posting private social security numbers and the spambots that troll the forum lands. Mark you'll be back just remember what I've told you in the past. Drinking and typing is one sure way to get yourself a ban vote. Avoid that and you are pretty much golden

I know I bring it on upon myself.....but those who are appointed to moderate things should do just that..........
And it does not take a two week ban to moderate me when I get off kilter.......much less the stated request for a six month ban.
A few hours will usually do......
Yeah, I know I get outta hand sometimes......but that is what the mods are for.
To keep things in check once in a while. Not to come down like a ton o' bricks........
But then again, my thoughts about modding were not well received when I was a mod.
When I get prodded, I retort.......and I have never been one to back down from a fight. Whether verbally, virtually, or face to face.
You buck me, you better have your ass covered.
Except the Setimods don't need no cover........they are shielded by their lack of recourse by us users.
We can't vote them in or out, we can't even get the rotation schedule once dictated by Eric.
If the rotation was in place, many of those modding now would be gone.
As it should be.
This has been a cyclical thing........
New mods...........all is good. They get more entrenched, realize they have little to do.....much find something to nitpick.....
And I am always on the edge.......so when they really need someone to snipe at........you know who pops up on the radar.
And then I become a target.
New mods. New mods. New minds. New minds.
A few folks think that I feel I have bought my place on Seti.........
Rubbish.
A thousand dollar donation of my own.......and 3 of the most successful fundraising drives in Seti history......resulting in 2 new servers and the most major shakeup in infrastructure of the project in it's history.....
You might not be sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next WUs to be issued, but for me.......might I dare say.
No, that should not 'buy' me any respect. Many others contributed to make those drives a success.
But I do feel that I have earned a little wiggle room.
That's about all I have to say right now.
If anybody wants to diss me......
Do it right here, right now, to my face, where I can respond.

This scene is simply the best in the car chase genre......
When I was a kid in AV club in school, we had this.
And we cut a 35mm film loop outta the main reel to play again and again.......
Caused a bit of trouble........
I do still remember how to splice celluloid.
As I recall, it cost the school several thousand back in '72 or so to make all them splices.
I was told we had one of only 4 or 5 copies in distribution at the time, and some folks were really pissed.
Ooops.
No fake reality, no 'Industrial Light and Magic" sets or phantom green screens to back us up......
We just DID it......real cars, real magic.
There are a few links to the filming of the chase on youtube.........some I remember are probably gone.
Mc Q broke a few axles doing it. And I could go on about the duplicate scenes, and the number of cuts with the green VW at the curb........LOL.
But when it all got put together.......I wouldn't want to be the bitches in the Dodge. And.........if given the chance, I would own a Coke Bottle Charger rather than the Mustang.

I know for a fact that the 440 Dodge could walk the Stang. Any day, any time.
There was no real race..........that Dodge would take the flag every time.
I drove a Charger back in the days......never drove a Stang.......but I bested one at the lights with a puny small block version .
Even that one pulled away strong.

I asked for clarification from Fred on high, and yet, when I posted about it, they deleted the thread anyway.
Despite my quoting in full an email from Fred on high concerning links in the NC, two mods have deleted my posts there with musical links.
They just don't get it.
This is starting to get old.

OK...maybe just a little bit my fault.
Back up to full Seti crunching power after having a rig go down.
Had a PSU failure on one Cuda rig. It was a rather old 550w unit. I was very happy when I swapped in a spare PSU (I ALWAYS keep a spare or two around) and it fired right back up. New PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750w.
Now if I could just arrange a Christmas amnesty on the Seti boards.............

Just don't forget that I could not have achieved it without the amazingly enthusiastic response I got from so many at Seti.
It was a very rewarding way to head into the New Year.
Looks like the Cricket graphs indicate the servers may finally be starting to catch up with the demand for kibble,

I was discussing my past life with another Setizen, was not bashing anybody in particular.
And yet my post is stricken.

If my fellow partisans thing I am out of line, I will back down, but, given past events, this should stand up for conversation in the PF.

Some think me amusing as I post my thoughts.

But I am here not to tell you that it happened to me, not to you.
Yes, I carried a knife, and a switchblade and gun.
Me boot was well fortified, second to none.
I never had cause for to show such a show.
But that,s the reason for carrying...don't you just know.
I was the baddest of bad, way worst than most.
Way many years before I posted Me Seti first post.
I'd was into a bar.....and before I said 'boo'
many folks left the scene.
But I was much meaner than you.
Not much bigger, 'bout 5' 9" and some.
But most folks knew I drank whiskey and I had a fast gun.
A volotile mix, so they choose to stand clear
Of the dude who had guns, and whiskey, and beer.
He pulled a small pistol in the alley that night.
Was not a big gun, not a small one,
But it gave me a freight.
So I went to my boot, where I had kept my good fight.
But his shot whistled clear, even before I could pull it.
That shot whistled past..........it was quite a fast bullet.
and ya know, 'fore I could pull it,
I tell you this not to befall you with pride,
but it's clear that those days I had God on my side.
For to pull out a pistol from inside a boot
It just took a moment, and history was wrote.
That man bought me drinks ever after.
And you don't wanna be, kids one one my awful kind.
He was so thnkfull, the nigh, my life he had not toke.

I'd most likely be lying in the gutter with that gun
than to be standing here telling you that I was the one

I was the last transgressor in my current ban.
