Hey all...
I have just recently begun crunching SETI-WUs again and have used the Unified Installer for x64-Win to install the optimized SETI App from this site.
Now I know what it says during the installation process, but I kinda want to double-check anyway:
Running Win7x64 on a Phenom II X4 System, is it faster to install the generic x64-App with SSE3-Support or should I use the 32bit App for SSE3-AMD CPUs, as it is recommended during install?
Additionally I wonder, if there will be a newer optimized version soon (if that makes any sense), as the Phenom II seems to support SSE4A, accoring to CPU-Z:
"Instructions sets: MMX (+), 3DNow! (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4A, x86-64, AMD-V"
Thanks!

I would recommend to use what installed already, AMD specific.
but you always can download benchmarking tool and test on your own hardware what works faster to you.
No plans for using new instruction sets yet.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will stick with the 32bit AMD app then!

Probably silly to tell you all (as you will know), but I am really impressed by the results I am getting.
WUs that take my machine around 7200 seconds to complete took my respective wingmen (who were partially running pretty fast computers) anywhere between 18000 and 23000 seconds!
I wish there were optimized apps for other projects I am crunching as well.

:) nice to hear that :)

SSE4A is a minor tweak that AMD developed and so it doesnt give any boost while processing WU's. Other than that listen to Raistmer he's the man!
