Title: Optimised AP 505
Post by: MarkJ on 09 Jul 2009, 11:10:14 pm
I keep seeing talk about an optimised AP 505 but can't seem to find a news item on here or anywhere else where to download it. I have heard it mentioned that it maybe in the full "unified installer package", but I only need the .exe and any dll's. If someone can point me in the right direction please.

Cheers,
MarkJ

I used Luatics original unified installer to get the app_info and optimized apps for my  desktops. Now I have learned I need version 5.05 but for some (not enough senority?) reason I do not have access to the new version of the unified installer:-( Question1: how do I get access to the new unified installer? Question 2: How do I install it over the original unified installer? (HINT: I have no idea how to modify an app_info file) Please help!

I found AP505 optimized app and app_info help on seti's forum, but could still use an explanation/help as to why I can't access Lunatics' new unified installer on this site. Thanks in advance, Rick

The reason is that you (and I) are still listed as knaves.  It takes more posts, 6 or 9 I think, to make it high enough to be rated a squire to be able to access the beta portions of Lunatics.

Thanks for the explanation John. Do you know what the relationship is between Lunatics and KWSN? I recently switched from BOINC Synergy to KWSN, and noticed Lunatics web site uses KWSN's web address. Rick

The lunatics site/project of optimized apps was first started by members of KWSN team.

The kind people at KWSN offered to host the lunatics after the first host went defunct.  No relationship other than that.

Managed to score my 1st AP v505, so it looks like its working. It hasn't finished yet so don't want to count my chickens before they hatch  ;D

I have installed the AP 505 optimized app, and amended my app_info file on 8 of my computers, but still have not gotten a single AP505 work unit. Below is my app_info file. Is there anything wrong with it?

Nope, nothing wrong that I can see (with a quick glance only).  There just aren't that many of those tasks around.  I get about 1 or 2 a week, and my p4 has probably only done 1 ever IIRC.  When the AP splitters are active there is something like a 3% chance of getting one (with the right web preferences set).

Thanks for taking a look. This was my first attempt at modifing an app_info file. I'll just have to wait to get my first workunit. Rick

Yep, while waiting for that, take a look at the server status page.  The AP tasks shown in the queue seem to have been all split and sent out, so it might be a while before the Multibeam splitting catches up, and new data  'tapes' are added.  Incidentally, it seems uploads might possibly go a lot easier during this period, until the AP splitters etc.. are cranked up again anyway.
