Hi there,
Assuming that you have Boinc already installed and functioning with stock applications, then the AK_v8 x64 version downloads, in the downloads section, will likely be the ones you're after. Bear in mind that if you are running boinc v6, I'd advise running your WUs down first by setting 'no new tasks', to avoid dumping WUs marked higher than 5.28.
If you are/intend to run astropulse there are instructions & help available via the forums on main, how to appropriately modify the app_info.xml (and even make MB Wus show up marked as 6.03 if it really bothers you, though there's no functional difference).
Another thought that comes to mind, considering the OSes you mention, is (I beleive) Boinc is not supported to install on servers configured as domain controllers, though I'm told they may be working on something for that.

BOINC v6.2 won't install on Domain Controllers, but BOINC v5.10.45 (which is readily available from the All Versions (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php) download page) will install just fine.
Whichever version of BOINC you run, you should either run down your cache, or modify the app_info.xml file to reference application version 603 (or both). The 6.03 science application isn't restricted to v6 BOINC!

Sure, sounds good (without knowing more about the system I couldn;t say just how good, you might trawl BoincStats to see if there are similar looking machines to compare.

Don't know about that one. there are some older 32 bit V2.4 builds for FreeBSD here, you may wish to check around about elsewhere as someone may have done newer builds. Asking at Number crunching forum, or Crunch3rs site may be an idea.

Yup, my dual Xeons started on XP before I upgraded to Vista. Just note that it has to be XP Pro to recognise dual CPUs - XP Home (if they do that in 64-bit) is limited to one CPU.
