Hello,
Second time I experience the same problem : wu's take ages to compute and seem blocked.
Machine is : P5B-2gb RAM-C2D 6600-Win XP Pro 32bits
Everything @ stock speeds
I use BoincStudio core client with your current optimized seti version (no graphics)
Seems like the wus stay blocked after I play games. When I check back, progress is about 93% for both current wus, 18h have already been spent crunching and about 1h15 left. In the task manager, the 2 processes are still 50% load.
Here are the links to the 2 results
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=489925758
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=490063508
Hope this helps you solve the problem.
Thanks
In case they disappear before you can examnine them :

Hi,
the WU stats say that it was "aborted by user" - though it also states an error message. It may be that the game you're playing somehow interacts with BOINC and makes the science apps either crash or hang.
So far, that hasn't happened to my knowledge, so I'm not really sure what's going wrong. Does this only happen when you're playing games or on its own as well? The computation times are very very long for the computer you have, for one. Also, it claimed a lot too high (274 credits is ~3 times the maximum you can get), so it seems quite a couple of things went wrong.
If it just happens when you're gaming, then I'd suggest disabling BOINC before you do - it's a bit of a bother, but it should fix your problem. Not sure we will be able to figure out a solution, because I don't know what the real problem is :)
Regards,
Simon.

Simon,
Thanks for your reply.
More info : the game is Trackmania Nations. I used to play this game with boinc crunching without any kind of problem with a P4C 3.2 and the previous release of your optimized app (and with einstein and abc clients).
I did cancel the 2 wus because of the time already spent on them, because the progress remained stucks and because I knew the claim credit would be far over what I would get (it already happened a few days ago with two other units, also after playing TMN). This time, and also the previous one, the % of progress was about 93-98 % on all wus.
So far, the problem never happened if I don't play that game. And as it is the only only game I play, I don't know if other would do the same.
The main problem is of course the time taken and the "freeze" of computation, in particular because I run boinc as a service (so I loose the time already spent on the wus if I stop the service).
I wonder if the problem could not come from the initial bench test of wus. If the cpu is heavy loaded while this test is running (like when I'm playing), wouldn't it affect the computation ?

That may be possible, though the app does run at higher priority during the benchmarks and should make the game stutter, actually. This has been noted by a few people with the new 2.2B release.
We're thinking about ways to improve this, but right now, the only solution I see really is to not game and run BOINC at the same time - you could make a batch file that looks like this to start TMN (text file, save as whatever.cmd or whatever.bat):
@echo off
net stop boinc
c:\TMN\TMN.exe
net start boinc
Of course, you'll have to change the path to Trackmania, but that should be straightforward.
Regards,
Simon.

The S@H application normally checkpoints once a minute, you should lose only the time since the last checkpoint if you stop the service.

OK, thanks for this batch.
By the way, running TMN while boinc is on NEVER slows down the game. I can notice when the bench occurs on every software, but not while I'm doing TMN. Is there a TMN version planned ? (joking ;))

You are right, except I chose to write to disk every 50.000 seconds in order to "save" my drives. In particluar an usb stick on which I run Boinc
Anyway, thanks guys for your great work.
I'll use Simon's batch and will losse whatever is already computed, but it's only a matter of 1 or 2 hours. Better than having wus lasting 18 hours or so :D
