Hi I have ntb with Core Duo T2500 which supports SSE3. It's better to use SSE2-PM version of Simon's app or use SSE3-P4/PD app?

The SSE2-PM will be best. Those build options apply to the parts of the code which haven't been hand-tuned and the Core Duo architecture is most similar to PM.
In hand-tuned sections, the app tests each of the routines which the CPU can handle. So some SSE3 routines will probably be used even when running the SSE2-PM version.

Would the same apply to my Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5200 @ 1.60GHz? Whenever I run the auto installer it just runs the SSSE3-Intel Core 2 and quits saying that is the one.

Your CPU is a Core 2 class one, which crunches best with the version that got chosen for you.

Core Duo is't the same as Core 2 Duo.
But your app. can be used on both? (Core Duo hasn't got SSSE3 instruction set)
So if I understand right I can use Core 2 optimalised applications on Core Duo CPU?

Core Duo chips CAN NOT RUN SSSE3 APPS - But Core 2 Duo chips CAN run all SSE2/SSE3 apps. It's called backwards compatibility.

P.S. Your last optimalised app. is great it's speeds up my 2xP3 @ 1GHz by incredible 50%! ;D

It sped up my Xeon HT 3.0 GHz from ~450 RAC with both CPUs to over 800 with 2 CPUs, and ~620 with only one CPU. The largest speedups I saw were on slower computers, using SSE and SSE2.

That's it definitelly.
My P4 HT 2.6GHz (SSE2) from about 350 RAC with both CPUs going now more than 530 RAC. ;D
On Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.2GHz it was from 1500 to 1650 RAC, that's inst as much as on older PC :D

I noticed that too. My 3.0 seemed to get the biggest boost. Went from 580 to 720 with 740 peaks.

I think that we can thank Intel for how confusing this post is....soon they will come out with a Core 4 Quad with 16 cores just to confuse people ::)....j/k

I think "SSE2 PM" is likely to be faster on your system, but none of the pretesters had a Core Solo or Core Duo system available. The additional instructions in SSE3 are generally not useful in SETI@home crunching, so I believe the architectural similarity is more important.
You could simply try each for a week or so, then stick with the one which seems better. We'd appreciate a followup post indicating which worked best on your system if you do that.
