Title: Will Crunch3rs V5 64 bit run Cuda?
Post by: hiamps on 19 Feb 2010, 08:43:26 pm
I am wondering if I install Windows 64bit 6.1.0.64 V5 - use on Windows XP64 and Vista 64 from crunch3rs site if I would still be able to run Cuda? The current Boinc sucks with it's "Project Backoff".

I don't think so.

I think you can use anything from 6.6.x and newer.

The project backoff was added I think in the 6.10.x version.

I have 800 or more waiting to upload, will I lose all my work if I goto a older client?

Uploads are not so much of a problem, scheduler requests are. In the last 24 hours I've uploaded about 700 workunits but I can't get the scheduler requests through. I've now about 1100 workunits to report, my scheduler request file is 4.1 MB and about 1100 more ready to upload. But they'll go through in a day or two, I'm more concerned about the scheduler requests.

Project backoff was added in Boinc 6.6.38, 6.6.37 doesn't have it.

Nope, you shouldn't loose any tasks waiting for upload, but i think it's not worth doing,
Seti is having Major connectivity problems, forcing 800 uploads through is going to be very hard work,
a computer with a slow single core processor and no GPU might get enough uploaded to get some work,
But not a Multi-Core CPU with Multi-GPU's,
just attach to a different project like Einstein for the CPU, and Collatz for the GPU.

Edit: I agree with Sunu, my XP3200 doesn't have any Seti tasks, and it still can't contact the schedular.

Lol, "Results received in last hour" instead of going up, go down, now at 9930. Whatever the problem, it's still there and going strong.

yeah, I have many results to upload on my quad and project backoff... AP doesn't splitted now and still strong upload problems... Host with CUDA GPU is empty now most probably...  :'(

Uploads are definitly the biggest problem now. With too many wus waiting for upload there are no further work requests. That way many multi-day cache-holders will run out of work.
Took the time to watch a single upload go through : took 4 minutes total, mainly waiting for server acknowledgements.
