Title: Video card variance by computer
Post by: TouchuvGrey on 13 Jan 2013, 07:28:24 pm
i have 4 desktop computers here in my house.
They range from Homebuilt with an Asus MB, and 12
gigs of RAM to a $399.00 Walmart special.

If i were to put the same video card in each ( presuming an
adequate power supply ) would there be much if any variance
in their performance ?

If the CPU is fast enough to feed the card it should be similar.

Depends on what GPU and what app you're measuring the performance with,

If it's with an app like the x41xc Cuda app which has a minimal CPU time requirement then there shouldn't be much difference,

If it's an app with a big CPU portion like Hybrid Astropulse or Einsteins BRP4 GPU app then CPU and MB speeds will make a big difference,
