Title: Astropulse v5.03 on AMD Phenom 9950 & WIN2K server = ~150hours/WU?
Post by: sbalfour on 07 Jun 2009, 02:46:24 pm
As above.  My OS is at SP4.  No overclocking.  4Gb ram. All 4 CPU's run 100% usage.  Astropulse
is Berkeley standard edition, no monkeyworks (yet).  Is 150hrs/WU a plausible result?  If so, I hope
to do better with the optimized appr here.  If this average is not plausible at it stands, what do I
need to do short of installing an optimized `0p?  Is Windows 2K just not up to the job?  How about
driver updates relevant to SETI?

Win2Kserver sp4 should be up to the job on your 1st generation Phenom. If you think that 150hrs/wu are to long try the optimized application from this page (SSE3). Doing so should halfen your runtimes per wu. Just make sure your hardware, especially the cpu+chipset cooling is up to its job and dust is not hindering air flow, because the optimized application will use your hardware more intensive.

Urs probably forgot the links  :)

Here (http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=166) is the package for manual installation of the optimised AP application.
Here (http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=184) is the unified installer for automatic install of optimised apps.
Take your pick.

The stock astropulse app is very very slow. The Lunatics' optimised one will give you a big boost.
