K6-2, almost ten years old, soon to be replaced but, in the meanwhile, running Debian etch.
The first work unit choked with:
<message>
process got signal 4
</message>
<stderr_txt>
dlopen() failed: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
No graphics.
</stderr_txt>
What's the point of linking to OpenGL if you don't do graphics? however, I installed package libgl1-mesa-swx11 which provides libGL.so.1, but I'm still getting "process got signal 4" - if I run the app manually I receive an "Illegal instruction" message.
Did I do anything wrong ? or it just doesn't work ?
PS: R1.3 works fine...

Are you using the new statified applications? if not, download them again (the tarball will have static in the name). that resolved some of my issues with library dependencies.
-
I think so:

I don't even know what to tell you. Perhaps wait for the 2.4 applications -- they are much more permissive on dynamic libraries.
-
If nobody from the porting team has replied, I'll assume they're not interested in supporting old machines (especially AMD).
Thank you for replying, anyway.
-
Then you assume wrongly -
actually, there are some 2.4 versions coming up, but I'm swamped with work. Does working til 2:30 AM on a Saturday sound like fun? Thought not.
People, please realize we're doing this for fun, and sometimes things that we get paid for have to take precedence. There is no "guaranteed response time" here, hey :)
Regards,
Simon.

Sorry Simon, no offense meant. My bad.
-
None taken,
we all do the best we can ;)
Regards,
Simon.

I emailed Furex a pre-release version of the 2.4 application which may or may not work.
-
2.4pre starts fine. I've just tested the newly released 2.2b2 and that starts ok, too.
Given the ...hrmmm... 'speed' of the machine, it might take days before a WU is completed, though.
-
That may take a bit of patience, indeed ;)
Hope everything works out for you now, too.
Regards,
Simon.
