Weird BOINC server messages

(1/2) > >>

PatrickV2:
Hi there,

In the past several days I noticed the following two responses from the BOINC servers on several machines:

1. 02-Jul-2010 17:37:45 [SETI@home] Message from server: Invalid app version description

and, mostly on one of my fastest machines (A Q6000 with an 8800GTX):

2. 05-Jul-10 14:18:38   SETI@home   Message from server: This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress

What are the reason these messages are sent? I did notice the Q6600/880GTX machine was able to get (but not download, these failed) quite a load of work today, so perhaps things have cleared up...

Regards,

Patrick.

Claggy:
1. post your app_info

2. read jobs limit thread, at least Jeff Cobb's posts.

1: Here it is. Keep in mind this app_info has been unchanged since 25-02-2009, while the messages mentioned only started appearing a few weeks ago. This app_info is for a P4-1.7GHz machine.

2: That's a LONG thread, read part of it, but it looks like they disabled this artificial limit (or increased it significantly) since my Q6600/8800GTX machine has it's download queues filled with WUs which still have to be downloaded. Tasks in flight also looks healthy (as in: a long list) again.

Regards,

Patrick.

astropulse and astropulse_v5 are obsolete, (by at least a year) and have been replaced by astropulse_v505, they are the source of the  'Invalid app version'

If you grab the latest 0.36 Lunatics installer you can upgrade the apps to the latest versions.

Aha. Did this, and updated my machines which needed this. Thanks for the hint!

Patrick.
