Why can't you use the Boinc version in Ports?

Urs, sorry for not reporting back but since Jocelyn hasn't been online until now I haven't been able to verify the results. My RAC on that machine has increased during Jocelyn's downtime so some WUs must have been validated. I reported another WU now that got validated immediately and another one is waiting for validation. The FreeBSD version appears to work correctly. Many thanks again for your hard work.

Many thanks for providing the possibility of testing on this platform.
Your CPU is relatively "low end". Do you have any idea of how much speedup you see there ?

The biggest problem, non static fftw library, is currently worked on. Expect a (final) version in the next days. It will be a little bit faster.

I intentionally bought that system for my router/firewall so I went as cheap as possible and it's still overkill for its tasks. Just wanted a 64-bit platform to play with for FreeBSD. CPU was practically for free... :-)

I ran the FreeBSD version form dotsch.de for a while which according to that page is based on the stock code. Execution times were 120 hours then with two simultaneous tasks. As we discussed earlier, the small cache on this CPU hurts performance badly when running two tasks, practically doubling execution time. I therefor run one task at a time now and it takes 44 hours with the optimized app which should be compared to roughly 60 hours then with the stock 5.03 code. So I'd estimate about 30% increase in speed.

New builds are released now for 64bit FreeBSD.
