I know the feeling too, current voes nowadays aren't fun to deal with.

Both you and i are purely dedicated and always has been, i have been around these forums for a long time now watching everything get better and better.
So in terms of what the people here has achieved for seti, it's a really huge accomplishment and the gurus here should have every credit for it in the world.

I'm sad that you've had soo much trouble with the gpu's.. I have a suspicion if the pci-e bus is too overclocked because the symptoms you mention seems to coicide with that, otherwise i don't know.
When dealing with gpu's if i tend to have problems i most often back up getting it to work in default clocks and then move upwards. If that doesn't work i try different drivers and chipset drivers.

The most tricky situation i got some years ago was a particular gpu board that leaked sporadic 1 and 0 over to the I/O of the raid controller corrupting my windows installations.. That took a while to figure out.
When i replaced that graphics card with another one exactly the same i still got errors, until i tried same graphic card with a different manufacturer it worked.

Well time go by and the science is our passion and dedication and nowadays my internal competition i've achieved with myself building that gpu cruncher only to see what it could deliver at most.
If my calculations are correct this machine could get around the 75k Rac mark but i doubt that i'll get that amount of work dedicated to break that milestone. That's my own competition i've made with myself.

It would be a shame if you called this a quits , hope we could have you around here for many more years to come.
