BOINC Benchmarking

(1/1)

Zydor:
Hi guys - grateful you educate me  on an overall principle.

Integer speed is the key (not the only) indicator of crunching capability/potential/speed ?

The Benchmak speed BOINC calculates for Integer, I assume that includes the processing power of the attached card?  or is it just the cpu?

Zy

Richard Haselgrove:
The nearest thing we have for indicating speed, apart from SETI itself, is the floating point (not integer) benchmark. That's for the CPU only, and it's not very good: AMD CPUs tend to do quite well on the benchmark, but less well on SETI: Intels have lower benchmarks, but crunch faster.

For GPUs, we have nothing at all except the manufacturer's specification sheets.

Okie Doke - Many Thanks Richard
