Hi all.
Any thoughts about topic?
I'm interesting in computational power per price and maintenance ratio. Anyone got new 45 nm Quad in hands already?

Not a Quad, I would like one.  This dual core is nothing short of excellent.  I'd say if the price is right then grab the quad.  Definitely check you can get a BIOS flash for a new Mobo, the Wofldale compatible BIOS I got from gigabyte as "Alpha" and recently updated to "Beta", though I've had no issues at all .

Power use on the 45nM chip is very low even OC'd. I run my dual core off a 210Watt uATX supply no probs, mild OC'd to 3.6GHz a quad would probably need me to go bigger I Guess.

Computational power at stock a tiny bit above conroe/kentfield equivalent (Q6700?) & hugely increased overclocking headroom if you're so inclined.

Maintenance? You mean cleaning it ?  If you run stock with a decent heatsink fan the thing would probably hardly ever turn on ..

And another question concernd with platform chose - what about chipset? AFAIK P35 is good but still no MB on G35. Gygabyte offers G33-based MBs...
The reason I look at G-seria and not P is integrated GPU. Is it possible on MB with integrated GPU to use integrated chip for buisness 2D graphics and add GeForce 8xxx as SETI-accelerator and use it only for HD movie or 3D gaming? Or such configuration is unreal?
The key idea is to free GeForce from constant switching from CUDA task to 2D graphics tasks back and forth..

Gigabyte G33 Rocks for me so far , totally stable and full features. I have the GA-G33M-DS2R with raid and solid Capacitors.  Though I don't  heavily overclock it is running happily at 3.6GHz in a uatx case with210W PSU &  zalman heatsink (Dont' laugh when you see the stock penryn heatsinks, they are very small) ,  Each core gets ~3.7 GFlops in BoincView... at $aus 197 (but the price doubled now...) that's about 19 megaflops x2cores - 38MFlops  per AUS$1 or proably about 50 MFlops per US$.  That's about 10 times the total performance of my p4 Cedar Mill with a 500 watt supply.

Also, The Intel Integrated GPU can supposedly be used with/ next to or software switched with PCI express card. [Though I haven't tried this feature myself yet, I plan to get an 8500 GT or similar low power GFX card,  Let me know if you need a link to extensive list of card power ratings]
