Intel Compiler and IPP versions
« on: 05 Jul 2007, 09:39:54 pm »
Does anyone know what compiler and IIP versions were used to create the public V2.2B optimized app?  I'm curious to see if the application has been compiled with all of the latest releases and if it was, did it produce any new speed benefits.

Thanks.

Actually, Simon has been fighting a bit with the gnarly IPP question recently, it seems that the latest IPP versions may actually have been a tad slower when apps were compiled with them than an earlier version.  I don't know if Simon has had enough time to come to firm conclusions as to why yet, but I'll let him weigh in on the situation when he has the time (he's been busy with the kind of work that pays the bills lately).

Hi,

2.2B was compiled with ICC 9.1.x (most current release at the time) and IPP 5.1.x (same).

We've recently experimented with later ICC 9.x and 10.x releases as well as later IPP 5.1 and 5.2 releases. So far, it looks as if ICC 9.1/IPP 5.1 is quicker than any other combination still, though I'm still not quite finished with testing.

HTH,
Simon.
