MultiChicken apps (Seti MultiBeam)
« on: 21 Apr 2007, 08:08:10 pm »
As it would seem that Seti is starting to ramp down the current phase of the project (reducing the quorum to process existing work faster) and getting ready for the new MultiBeam data, I was wondering how work was going on a new series of MultiChicken apps to process the new data.
Is this a total rewrite of the apps, are we starting from ground zero?  Is it going to take minor rewrites and adaptations to the existing stable of 2.2b apps?  Or will the 2.2b apps process the new data?
What is it going to take for a dedicated Chicken Cruncher like myself to do the switchover when the time comes?
Forgive me if this is a little premature, but I can see the stormclouds on the horizon.
Thanx, Mark.

The apps are actually the same...
Sit back and relax.

True, Simon is a civilized individual who understands that Beta testing isn't about who can get the most credit. The task is to test the stock application and the parts of the server code which have been changed for multibeam.

That said, I am running personal builds with many of our optimizations adapted to the 5.17 code as built using DevC++/MinGW. I hope that Eric Korpela will have time to add those changes to the official code base so all users can be more productive.

When Seti comes back online will it use the same app it was? Seems I had a conflict with Beta last time I ran it.

Hi Joe,

do you have a copy of your 5.17 codebase online ? I'd like to try it.
(for my Alpha ... unfortunately the 2.2B code doesn't work the way i was wanting it to be)

Could send me a pm ?
Thanks.

I'm still trying to get it organized for Eric to merge, will let you know when there's something available.
