Public OpenCL test at Einstein

(1/1)

Richard Haselgrove:
Using their new beta-test server 'Albert' - I think they might be using that to test their mods to CreditNew as well, but I haven't checked in detail yet.

Edit - looks like they're concentrating on the ATI flavour of OpenCL, and the new OpenCL support features in BOINC v6.13.12

Raistmer:
Will be quite curious if Einstein beat SETI with stock OpenCL app...

skildude:
Not entirely.  They have an app that works as a standalone but fails when run on anything other than a MAC(apple product).  Additionally,  they need the OpenCL ID which isn't implemented in anything less than 6.13.XX which means even you'd be working a wonky application on a very wonky BOINC version.  Perhaps its best that this one rest until we have a semi stable 6.13 version to play with.  BTW each WU requires at least 4  MB of data d/l each which is very annoying when the WU's will fail every time within 2 seconds.  Again,  not stable yet on Windows or Linux.  Needs 6.13.XX to run.

arkayn:
If my old iMac had a OpenCL capable GPU, I would try it out.

But it only has a ATI X1600, pre CAL.
