Note on SETI Beta v7 work
« on: 10 Jul 2011, 10:37:13 am »
The last time new work was split at Beta was 17 May 2011, WU 3470811 being the last. Issue of the initial replication tasks for those should be done in a few hours, the other 28000+ tasks in "ready to send" will be _2 or higher resissues. Fewer than 4000 tasks a day have been issued lately, so no immediate shortage.

The reissues ought to make it less likely to get a huge batch of tasks all the same, and make it more likely to get quick validations. More interesting from my point of view...

Good.  I'm gearing for polishing of the cuda V7 code, so that'll help.

btw: I managed to convince my mother she needed a 2400 cpu with system upgrades, so I'll be able to test out the avx code finally.

Good for you Jason. Did that kangaroo ever find it's way to you? Haven't heard if you got your new power supply yet.

Still waiting.  the first of that breed of PSU ( Corsair AX 1200 Gold) landed in the country on Friday, is ordered, paid for & somewhere waiting for bank transfers to sort themselves out ( yawn).   In the meantime the 750W RMA unit went back to the manufacturer & was approved for warranty.

So sometime ... by Christmas  ::) ... everything should be here.  After some reshuffling, existing machine cleanouts, new machine assembly/testing & burn-in for the old lady, I should be able to finally give some of Joe's AVX/V7 code a workout.    Incidentally that machine build is getting a new 560ti as well, so I should be able to see what the boggle is there eventually, as well as help out with the V7 code dispatch mechanisms needed in AKv8.

A lot of the stores over here run a Christmas in July sale. Here's hoping!   ;D  Yeah, I seem to see a lot of the 560s with problems, hope it's not something wrong with the cards themselves. So, how many months is the burn in on your Mother's new machine going to take?   ::)

Don't know, but it'll certainly go on beta at first, and main permanently.  Let's hope there is actually any beta work left (even resends) by the time it's together & operational.
